The Ellisville Community Farmers Market is gearing up for another great sea Our kick-off was Friday May 10 with a special event called “Taste of the Market” We are partnering with the Fairway Elementary PTO during the 2013 Market season to collect food for the Got Your Backpack program, which provides nutritious food for students in need. The event kicked off with the farmers market food vendors such as PM BBQ, Bombay Food Junkies, Ray Rays Kettle Corn, Two Men and a Garden Salsa along with Market beverages. The event started at 4 p.m. and featured live music by the Wise Brothers. The St. Louis Community College brought their Mobile Tech Center to show off many of the exciting activities they doing.

“Taste of the Market” was to be followed by Rockwood Family Movie Night in the Bluebird Park Amphitheater. Starting around 8pm the movie “Wreck it Ralph” was to be shown. Due to inclement weather on the 10th, the movie night has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 30th at 8pm.

We are asking all attendees to bring non-perishable foods (no glass containers). Suggestions include: bread, oatmeal, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, canned meat, soups, stew, macaroni and cheese, pasta, spaghetti sauce, fresh fruit, applesauce. Gift cards to purchase these items are also appreciated.

The Ellisville Community Farmers Market championed this project last year. The market donated over 1000 pounds of food for the program. In addition, the market worked with the West St. Louis County Rotary to include the Got Your Backpack program as part of their CAP grant which provided the Got Your Backpack program with over $2000 in food after the market season ended.

On Thursday, May 16, 4-7:30 p.m. we are excited to begin our 4th season. We anticipate have a good mix of vendors this year that will include local, seasonal produce, meat, eggs, honey, salsa & pickles, along with handmade and homemade artisan items such as handmade soap, rag rugs, jewelry and more.Our customers can purchase baked goods including El Chico fruit empanadas, Lisa Vogel’s (Eilerman Bros.)pies and Princess Delights Speciality Breads.Enjoy prepared food from PM BBQ, Bombay Food Junkies food truck, RayRays Kettle Corn, Wolf Public House along with Market beverages including locally crafted beer, Missouri Wine, iced tea, juice and organic soda.
